Very nice pants (worth 4 stars at least) but... I bought these based on the listed measurement stating the S size was 42" in length. I got the L expecting they'd be longer and... they are also 42" long. ARGGHHH!!!

I wrote a review and AA never published it but I've given the track pants more wear since and have a more comprehensive experience to report. So here goes First, let me say I've been living in these pants for the last month or so and I've gotten to know them really well and I love them. The fit is fantastic, much more flattering than a pair of track pants should be. I'm quite tall and I found the length just long enough even for me. The pants make my butt look good (which is important) as well as my crotch (equally important but often overlooked in many pants). They taper just as they should so you look sporty instead of sloppy. The material is what you'd expect from a generic inexpensive track pant. It doesn't read cheap nor does it read luxe. It just reads understated and active... perfect. The inside is brushed which makes it quite good for the cold but as its warming up I'm not so sure they'll be good for summer. I've machined washed these pants twice in cold water and then in the dryer on low heat according to care label. They turned out great, no loss in color or luster and no change in texture. My only complaint is that there was some pilling on the inside of the pant. You can't see it from the outside so it's not really an issue and I'll easily shave it down when it accumulates more, but that's the only thing I don't like. These are one of the best pants AA has ever done and I hope they expand on this item and offer it in new fabrics. I'm definitely going to try the nylon version of these as it warms up though I prefer this slinkier and more sensual fabric. Hopefully AA can make a version without the brushed side so it's better to wear in warm weather. All in all, I highly recommend this for the gym and even more so as an everyday pant if your lifestyle (and body) is more active.

Great track pant and excellent addition to AA's line up

I've been tired of jeans and chinos and was desperate for a new option for a casual pant. I thought it was time to try out an athletic knit bottom, which a lot of designers and retailers have been pursuing in their men's offerings lately. I checked out AA first and I saw these on the rack and to be honest the shiny fabric threw me off. I was concerned the shine might read too cheap or too loud rather than sleek and athletic. Reluctantly I tried them on and I'm glad I did. The Fit... The fit is fantastic, which I can't say for all AA men's bottoms but these really work, at least for me. The seat and crotch are flattering and controlled and the leg is fitted and slim tapering down toward the ankle. Often times a slouchy fit with knit pants can just make you look dumpy rather than relaxed but these pants avoided that. The pictures on this website don't actually do it justice. What I love (along with it making my butt look good) is the drawstring waistband. It allows the pants to sit on your hips in a couple of different ways giving a slightly different look. The Fabric... I didn't love the shine or the fact that it was all poly but once on your body the shine is negligible (it reads as classic athletic wear, which is the ideal look and is quite nice). The brushed inside is rather cozy making it suitable for cold and warm weather. The fabric has a great hand and sits on the body quite snuggly, folding around it in a flattering way. But the fabric is really a technical fabric and not a fashion fabric. The drape and shine is such that it WILL reveal the muscles (or fat) of your waist, legs, and butt. So I only recommend this if your body can withstand the often damning revelations of a clingy shiny fabric. Details... The details are pretty standard and are sufficient. There are two zipped side pockets which were ample to store my phone, keys, and wallet. And there are two side zips on either side of the ankles as well. At moments I almost wished there was a back pocket but I do prefer them without it to limit bulk (their lightness is where the magic is). These function fine. So I had worn them around the house for a day before I decided I would take them out for a night of birthday drinks with friends. Most of the people I was with didn't even realize they were athletic pants (they looked too smart) and I felt casual and cool and sexy which is all you can ask for from a track pant. I think these were a great buy and I look forward to them becoming a core part of my winter and spring wardrobe. I have yet to see how these age (inexpensive poly knit can pill really badly) but I expect these to hold up. The care instructions call for a cold machine wash. That sounds about right and I plan to hang dry mine which will keep them looking better longer as well. cons... - Not for everybody/every body, but if you like that athletic look outside of them gym then these will be super useful. - Not convinced of the other colors it's offered in. The black looks incredible but the blue and maroon aren't all that appealing in person. I wouldn't mind a couple more options - The construction is not as nice as a pair of true athletic pants you'd get from Adidas or Nike but then that's not really the point of these. Still, I wouldn't mind if there was just a little less seam pucker down the side seam (once on it's not noticeable but I'm still picky). pros... - Great fit - Function nicely in the gym and beyond as a fashion/casual pant. - Drawstring waist makes them versatile and fun. - Made in America, duh.
