Classy and Quality Swimwear
August 10, 2013
Short review: Durable and snug swim briefs that have a secure feeling with a sleek look. The material holds up well and after over 1 year of intensive usage served its purpose for me. If price and longevity are factors in your purchasing decision then go for this product. And I'm writing this as someone that's thoroughly impressed with what I got so you can be sure this is no canned review. 5 stars easily. Long review: I needed a good pair of something to swim in for my rehab after I sustained an injury to my back and since I'm not squeamish about my body swim briefs were what seemed in order. After shopping around for reasonably-priced "speedos" (I thought that was the actual term for a long time) I eventually found American Apparel's stunningly diverse color array of swim briefs. I'm typically not someone that goes around wearing anything that advertises my physique so with the common sense in my head that darker clothing is less transparent (wet or dry) I went for the cobalt color. Small seemed the right size, even for a taller guy like me, since I prefer the secure feeling of tighter clothing around the crotch and the material would be stretchy, I figured. The $21 discount price at the time was something I also found very attractive- much lower than any other brands I could find, anyway. When the swim briefs showed up at my doorstep after a pretty quick standard shipping time I tried them on and found that they fit like a dream. The previous jammer shorts I'd been using were falling apart so it was good to have a replacement that looked well put together. As for the feel if you didn't look down you wouldn't know you were wearing anything since it's that pleasurable of a smoothness. I envy whoever got the patent on the "Helenca" liner material since it's some of the best-feeling contact I've ever had on my skin, second only to another human body. Do I romanticize? Maybe. But it's quite good. And, of course, the visuals are a plus. As a guy when you're buying a swimsuit pretty much all you want is something that covers your backside and, naturally, your unit up front- at least where I come from. A bunch of reviews on here have stated that you see EVERYTHING on someone that's wearing a pair of these, but my experiences don't support that. Now, if you buy the highlighter yellow or white version of the product then, yes, you're going to a get a free show anytime the man wearing them does a flipturn at the end of his lap or bends over to grab the suntan lotion while they're still damp. You wear something light-colored and get it wet in public then you're asking to get ogled by curious, thirsty people when you wear it. Simple as that. All that said you can see a slight outline of your more male anatomy when the briefs are on, but it's not as heavily evident for the darker cobalt and black colors. The science of light, you might say. While it's not as attention-grabbing as one might think ("flattering" is an appropriate word contained in the item's description) you should know that wearing these does show what you have down there. Don't be intimidated by that since your penis is as big as it is supposed to be and when you're in the pool who's going to care anyway? As far as how your butt looks, what can I say? Mine's really rounded and basically looks like two contained spheres secure in their nylon/eslastane housing when I've got my suit on. The form shows and your body shows itself for what it is. With no drawstring on these briefs I thought they might slide off while I was doing laps or pushing off the pool wall but to my delight the curvature of my butt and the anatomical "anchor" of my lower front kept the suit in place. So as far as things have gone for me my suit has stayed on my body and never been left floating behind me for all the world to see my nakedness. Put simply they stay put. Since I started up swimming again for the purpose of rehab that meant I had to do it consistently- 45 minutes everyday for 5 days a week- and I wore the briefs I had just about everyday for around 45 weeks or so. As a result they got an intense amount of usage and became a good friend of mine. I never put them through a washing machine of any kind, and instead opted to just wash out the chlorine while in the shower and then let them air dry. I think it greatly extended their longevity. Due to swimming alot my muscles started to develop in an allover way (swimming does that to you), and consequently my leg and gluteal (butt) muscles started to increase in size. The swim briefs as a result started to get stretched because of my more muscular buttocks but still held together while getting a bit more see-through. "Semi-translucent" isn't a bad descriptor for what ensued. Combined with the times I'd slightly scraped the wall while treading water or doing a flipturn the suit's age began to show since I was taxing it as much as I was. After taking a dislike at what was perceived to be too revealing for me to wear anymore my girlfriend began threatening to throw away my weathered swim briefs and eventually made good on her promise to take them away. And so ended the trial run with my first cobalt pair of American Apparel swim briefs. Now I wear a green one. So there's the long version of my experiences with this particular item. American Apparel gets alot of flack for its advertising and image but when it comes down to it they pay living wages and made quality products right out of L.A. As someone that respects that business principle and the absolute desirability of this product I'd give this item a full recommendation. Pablo Naruda once described in his verses that clothing is something that can seem so intimate it's a part of your whole being. With these swim briefs I've got a better understanding of what he was talking about. So there you go. It's a product worth trying out.

BEST FITTING TRUNKS
April 28, 2013
these are the best fiting pair of trunks on the market. They fit nicely on the bum and are nice and snug around my 'package' too, however these may not be for eveyone as they do show the entire outline of your penis and are practically see through when wet. theyre great though if your not afraid to show off your manhood (from the perspective of a tall, skinny, 16 year old)

Cheeky Bikini swim suit!!!
January 29, 2013
I like wearing these in the Jaquazzi but they fade over time I have 3 pairs. I dont like boxers cause washing by hand is too much work I wash these in cool water, and shampoo to help extend the life expectancy.

I have bought two pairs of those already. Love the colours and the fit. The only thing I wear to beach or pool these days.

The cut is great and the material is nice but my problem is that the white version is not meant for public use. $30 for a suit and it doesn't come with a good liner? I'll be taking my future business elsewhere.

I have gone through two of these in two years. I dont go to the beach that often, but the material in the front gives out rather quickly, and its a shame as the cut and style are great. I really love the look, but they need better materials then to keep it lasting longer than a weeks worth of casual beach swimming.

What about a girl using these? I like the way the whole bum area is covered... is the part in the front too saggy if I wear them? The girl's bottoms barely cover any butt... that's why I even considered this ones

Picked this up in green and had the best swimsuit of all my buds on a beach trip. Fits well and looks great in and out of the water. Pretty much the only thing I wore for a week because its so comfortable.

I am not crazy about the fit. They colors are great - but the fit with folks with a bit of a butt isn't that great.
